Parametric Design Imitation
For this assignment, a parametric facade was to be selected and decipher the same using grasshopper computational design tool. The facade considered is The Entrepreneurial Museum of Challenge and Innovation, Osaka.
The interpreted logic is to create an array of lines and calibrate them in order to attain the two main curves. As the curves are created on the vertical face, the following step is to create the curves in the planar surface and join them to act as a single entity.
Step 1: To create array of lines on the vertical face.
Step 2: Generate the endpoints of the array and mark midpoints of the array using the average mean.
Step 3: Scale lines from the bottom to top to achieve a triangular base geometry.
Step 4: Bend the geometry in the desired way using a variable that can be changed according to the curve definition. A sine wave component is used to create the curve as per the reference image.
Step 5: To generate the bend in the curve on the negative x-axis so as to develop the planar curved surfaces in the reference image.
Final Result:
The concluding outcome is a parametric facade which can be wavered using the ‘variable y’ as per the script.
