The goal of the final project of the course is to use the knowledge gained in the course to design/study a responsive parametric facade that reacts to the environment in an existing building.

CASE STUDY

World Arab Institute – 1987, Paris (France) – Ateliers Jean Nouvel

The building studied is one of the first responsive facades ever build. The south facade of the building is made of different iris, which control the solar radiation and solar light into the building.

The facade is composed by square 2 meters side tiles. Each tile is made of several iris, one central and multiple secundary iris of two different sizes. All of them open and close to control the relationship between the building and the exterior enviorment.
