PROJECT OVERVIEW
Situated near the capital Palma de Mallorca, Magaluf is a town with the sole purpose of providing entertainment for tourists. Historically, not much can be said about Magaluf. The reason is that the place has only existed since the 20th century. The first hotel -Atlantic Hotel- was built in 1959. While most hotels and apartments were built during the 60’s.

TIMELINE
The types of behaviours encountered in Magaluf range from excess drinking, jumping from balconies to swimming pools. These have reached such extremes that measures and laws have been put in place, effectively hindering these activities. Yet, they continue to occur every year.

MANIFESTO
Our intervention, inspired by Milton’s Paradise Lost and The Divine Comedy, will take the seven deadly sins as a metaphor in developing the next large-scale construction of Magaluf, thereby creating an enclave of desire. This project is intended to explore the extent to which architecture can play a role in amplifying the existing debauchery in Magaluf.Using the narrative of the system of the seven deadly sins in Paradise Lost, the urban intervention will explore how sin is disciplined and how human desire shapes the city. Our 7 artifacts of debauchery will allow people to be fully immersed in escapism.

MASTERPLAN
Using the sins as a vector to develop 7 artifacts and the infrastructure around them we implement these within 7 locations along Magaluf’s cost, chosen based on their respective existing functions. A system of pipes is generated,  linking these based on a cycle consisting of four different uses that link the city’s energy, corpses, alcohol and waste.

AXONOMETRIC

Energy and waste flows connect all locations, alcohol flows within the fight hub, the balconing artifact, and gin city. Flows of corpse connecting the artifacts with the highest mortality rate, and ultimately leading to the refinery and back to the binge eating artifact.

CHAPTER I – (VANITY) SELFIE LIBERTY
When entering Magaluf, people officially enter the city through this gate, they will strip and wash themselves under the automatic sprinkler system, which is transformed from the most famous hotel building Calvia Beach in magaluf and uses rainwater and purified seawater to achieve a circular design, as if washing off their seriousness.

The avenue next the entrance is powered by the installation and the human body in it and its base is a huge battery. When people start taking selfies, the power system will start, and street lights and billboards that display people’s selfies will be lighted.

CHAPTER II – (GLUTTONY) THE MEANING OF FOOD
The binge eating artifact is a megastructure which cooperates with the city itself to achieve self-sufficiency within the act of binge eating.

The water collection system on the top floor provides water for the green and vegetables in the building, the solar energy system provides energy, and the fully automated feeding system is realized by robots.

People who enter here will enjoy endless delicacies, however one thing they did not expect is that part of food they eat are made in a manner they would never believe—–the human body, we call it unethical sustainability.
CHAPTER III – (LUST) EYES WIDE OPEN
The function of this “Sexposium” is to create a display of automated fantasies. It is a place for recreational activity, where socially unregulated sex would become a carefree universal pastime.
The sexual capsules go up and down through the operation of the machine. It is an space for observation, seduction of machine and random combination of partners who are invited to participate in this pursuit.  With these sensual stimulation fulfilled they go back to the ground and will go to their next destination.
CHAPTER IV – (EXCESS) GIN CITY
Gin city is the core of the city, where the pipes for transporting alcohol converge. The island’s industrial buildings and facilities are reorganized here as a new symbol of magaluf.
At the center of the artifact is a huge pool of alcohol, where people take a jump in different way,  sliding down through the pipes or jumping from balconies.

CHAPTER V – (GREED) PILL POPPING
In this artifact people people are offered a variety of opioids and stimulants to escape reality. The system will allow for a fully automated pill popping experience.

Only the mad will indulge in this paradoxical self-destruction, seeking to escape reality in the present by repeated drug consumption.
CHAPTER VI – (WRATH) FIGHT HUB
This space will induce people’s primitive desire of attack. Contradictions and tensions are forever stored in this installation, a giant playground in which there is only one activity: attack.

The power generated here will be stored as electricity into the main core and provided for the top big screen which 24 hours cycle displays the power ranking for the whole Magaluf.

It is inspired by museum of Mallorca and boxing machines. The elements includes walls, boxing capsule, traffic platform, electric cable, boxing platform, core structure and electronic billboard.

CHAPTER VII – (SLOTH) RED PILL OR BLUE PILL
It is inspired by museum of Mallorca and boxing machines. The elements includes walls, boxing capsule, traffic platform, electric cable, boxing platform, core structure and electronic billboard.
