Soak Wood Bending
Our lamp is inspired by the organic qualities of a jellyfish; the gentle and seamless curvature of its tentacles that intertwine creating interesting shadows. The biggest obstacle was understanding how to keep the spring back of the curve to a minimum while keeping the integrity of the design after drying. We learned the best way to manipulate the spring back was to incorporate a piece into the design that would reinforce the curves. This drove the rest of the design, pushing the curvature to the maximum.
