Our first drawing machine / shifting matter test was done with the use of a hand made water pump fueled by a motor and battery that was able to seamlessly shift water from one area to the next. So for the second exercise, we furthered this test by still using the water pump, however this time using the water to fuel the movement of the pens. Two flotation devices made of polyurethane were placed in a basin of water along with a drawing board directly attached to them. When the water pump was turned on the water started to move the flotation devices and in turn also move the drawing sheet allowing the pens to move around and create a shifting drawing.
