Areti Markopoulou to Lecture at Hyperbody’s Symposium #GSM3
Game Set and Match 3 | GSM 3 is the last of the three symposia organized by Hyperbody, TU Delft since 2000. It reviews the past and the present of Non-standard and Interactive Architecture and indicates potential developments for the future. The symposium will address three topics on three days, from the 9th to the 11th November 2016: Next Generation Building, Robotic Building, S.M.A.R.T. Environments.
The three topics are will be presented and discussed in sessions moderated by Professor Ir. Kas Oosterhuis, Associate Professor Dr.-Ing. Henriette Bier, and Assistant Professor Dr. Nimish Biloria, respectively. Sessions speakers are internationally known experts in the field from renowned European and American institutions such as ETH Zurich, ENSA Paris-Malaquais, UC London, IAAC Barcelona and Cornell Ithaca NY.
IAAC Academic Director Areti Markopoulou will be one of the speakers of the S.M.A.R.T. Environments session, moderated by Dr. Nimish Biloria, with the intervention Design for the Responsive City.
S.M.A.R.T. is an acronym for Systems & Materials in Architectural Research and Technology. As a GSM#3 conference research theme, S.M.A.R.T. Environments interrogates the intricate relationship between information systems and associative material formations. Such interrogations are deeply rooted in exploring novel interdisciplinary design strategies and nonlinear processes for developing generative meta-design systems.
These are used to conceive multi-scalar Performance Driven Architectures and Real-Time Interactive Environments. The resultant spatial outputs are hybrids, which evolve from the creative fusion of Ubiquitous computing, Parametric design and Material computing. Associated experiments spanning from the Micro to the Macro scales, focus on developing context aware spatial eco-systems embedded with sensing, actuation and control protocols enhanced with engineered computing elements and performance driven material aggregations.
