Indy Johar - Designing the Dark Matter of Democratic Cities

This week our guest lecturer Indy Johar, invited as part of the Winter Lecture Series 2016, inspired the audience with his lecture: Designing the Dark Matter of Democratic Cities.

How do we unleash the many to create, reimagine and remake our cities? How do we make buildings that both look good and do good?

Democracy is not about the vote but the democratic power to create our cities. By focusing on civic architecture and transforming real estate to real value, we can reinvent and create better cities.

Indy Johar is not only the co-founder of Zero Zero, he’s also an architect. By studying not only houses, but also structures and cities, he’s learned how to see the bigger picture. A picture that reveals how we can view cities as places for collaborative innovation.

In his lecture Indy shared learnings from a series of projects and ventures developing this agenda at 00 – from Townhalls for Civic change, social investment funds, to Opendesk.cc to wikihouse.cc – along with provocations for developing creative cities fit for the 21st century.
