Recursive Growth: Japanese Hibiscus

The assignment was to create looping and recursive strategies in order to re-frame the generation of architectural space. The Mies Van Der Rohe Barcelona pavilion was used as the site for this recursive growth exploration. Recursion is explained as a condition that is repeated upon itself until a satisfactory result is achieved. As a concept for this project I looked towards nature for recursive growth and found the Japanese Hibiscus. The challenge came in when creating a recursive system that would grow to resemble the hibiscus flower enveloping architectural space.
