City Servant, the Humanless Hinterland

The research of “The City in the Age of Hyperobjects”

Under the globalization, mega-urbanization and automation, the type of non-human architecture,
as the suppliers for the cities, are found in the countryside.

The research City Servant is to look at what cities have been consuming from, the materialization of the supply network, the hyperobject of the humanless hinterland.

As to perceive this hyperobject as a single unit in the planet-scale, the statistic has been collected globally. That gives the research the ratio between each part of the hyperobject.

And to present through a unitization, make it easier to understand, we outline a globe of it for nearly one million people. The numbers indicate the population each agency serve.

As we discover, what in the planet-scale is a mostly closed system, thus, the enclosure of byproducts dominate the relation as well.

The integration of agencies pass the byproducts within the system, and also, showing the part missing for CO2.

Although the plants play the crucial character in this loop, they were not conventionally understood as one the machine or architecture, until the construction with living plants. The research shown presents the prototype and the vision of the botanic-inspired architecture brought by Dr Ferdinand Ludwig.

Therefore, the hyperobject employs the living plant structure, as a carbon fixer, to complete the enclosure the byproduct loop.

In the investigation for construction with living plant on a mega scale, or to build a compact forest, we adopt the mathematic model Menger Sponge to the structure. That leads to the geometry has infinite subdivision (fractal), increasing surface to solar exposure, an equal distance from each interior space to the exterior (sharing the same quantity of air.)
When it comes to the debate of the mega-scale of the plants, we must bear in mind the fact that it uses solar power to strengthen itself, and the time
