Self-sufficient Buildings Research Studio – Second Term Presentations
Last Tuesday March 15th, Master in Advanced Architecture students went through the second term final presentations of Self-sufficient Buildings Research Studio.
Self-sufficiency is about consuming just the resources you are able to produce, turning into zero the ecological footprint; during the Self-sufficient Building Research Studio the concept of Self-sufficiency hasn’t only been applied to the energy consumption, but extended to other issues like water and food, economy or society.
As Architects, the role of the students went beyond conceiving buildings, materials, light, space or shape; their approach to this new way of thinking has been holistic, emphasizing the importance of the wholes, considering architecture as a complex combination of elements and their relations.
The group has been studying the organization and layout of pilot Campus projects, from the past ones to the most innovative ones, and is now getting ready to visit some of them in their field trip.
Check out the students proposals on the Self-sufficient Building Research Studio programme page.
