IAAC Takes part to the Congres d’Arquitectura 2016
The Congrés d’Arquitectura 2016, organized by COAC, consisted of a six-month process in which debates, reflections and conferences has been promoted with the aim of analysing the current social, environmental and economic context.
The outcomes of these activities led to the identification of architecture’s latest challenges, and the analysis of the most appropriate professional tools to overcome them. The format outlined by the Congress was innovative in several aspects, and aimed to cover both the need for internal discussion and that of external dissemination.
IAAC took part to the event, organising two initiatives that became part of the congress program. The KAAU Responsive Cities Symposium, held in Caixa Forum in the month of September, took some of the brightest minds in the fields of Sociology, Urban Sciences, Technology and Architecture in Barcelona to discuss the Future of our Cities
The Discussion panel on the role of the State Architect as a driving figure in the transformation of a country, with Lluis Comeron and Vicente Guallart introducing Floris Alkemade and Peter Poulet, proposed a reflection about the state architect through the analysis of this figure in several countries such as Australia, Netherlands and some estates of the United States of America.
Areti Markopoulou, Vicente Guallart and Mathilde Marengo took lately part to the Synthesis Session of the congress, talking about the profession’s own instruments to value new action fields, tools and processes, as well as the legal and regulatory framework from which architecture works.
