MAI Students Discover the Resonate Festival in Belgrade
Master in Advanced Interaction students, accompanied by their professors, Luis Fraguada and Klaus Obermaier, traveled this year to the Resonate Festival in Belgrade, Serbia.
Held each year in Belgrade, Serbia, the festival provides an overview of current situation in the fields of music, visual arts and digital culture. Guest artists, lecturers and other participants are chosen to represent the cutting edge of the contemporary creative industry in the world.
The research trip started with a visit to the Nikola Tesla Museum, the centre which is keeping a collection of artifacts and material relating to the life and work of the great Serbian born inventor and engineer.
Lately in the evening students and professors joined the drone concert at Dom Omladine Beograda, the Belgrade Youth Center, which organizes several programs in the area of modern art and culture, as well as educational-debate programs.
The following day was the moment for a full immersion in the festival’s talks and workshops, held at the main venue Kinoteka; Rosa Menkman, Sebastian Schmieg, Cool 3D World were among the more than 50 outstanding speakers of this edition.
Belgrade is an impressive city where brutalist architecture coexists with cozy bars, abandoned buildings and riverside clubs.
After having dinner at the oldest Belgrade restaurant, everyone went to the night exhibition done in co-organization with the Sónar festival, which took place at the club Drugstore, a hidden gem in the industrial area of the Palilula neighbourhood.
This interesting cathedral-like space featured audio-visual performances until 4:00 in the morning.
On Friday, students and faculty visited the gallery with installations by Florence To, Nicolas Sassoon and Rick Silva. The evening ended with concerts at Dom Omladine Beograda.
