Rachely Rotem - Can You Believe the Weather We Are Having?
This week our guest lecturer Rachely Rotem, MODU co-director, invited as part of the Spring Lecture Series 2017, inspired the audience with her lecture: Can You Believe the Weather We Are Having?
Based in New York City, MODU is an cross-disciplinary architecture practice specializing in design that connects people to the environment. The relationship between architecture and weather is at the core of their practice. The practice’s co-directors, Phu Hoang and Rachely Rotem, are the 2016-17 Founders Rome Prize Fellows in Architecture.
The crisis of climate change is not simply an environmental project; it is also a cultural project that requires all of the resources of cross-disciplinary design thinking.
Phu Hoang and Rachely Rotem, co-directors of MODU, argue that the undeniable truth of climate change can learn from weather itself requiring design strategies that are varied, differentiated, mediated, and adaptive.
