Computational Design – Digitizing: Capturing the world
Introduction:
Creating a 3d Object from Series of the images taken with the help of the “123D” application which is available for android, Windows and ios operating systems.
Process:
- Find a suitable object to click around the metro station allotted to you as per the part of the program.
- The object you choose should be within you heights reach so that you can take pictures from the top also.
- As this software requires almost a 360 degree pictures from all the sides possible to create a 3D mesh.
- Maximum good quality image one should take is roughly around 70 per project.
- After uploading all the images captured it takes roughly around 30 – 45 minutes for the application to create the mesh by stitching all the pictures together.
- In the application you can eliminate unwanted mesh so that you only get the required export of the mesh for Rhino.
- The Task was to take the exported mesh to rhino and use the tools to replicate the similar mesh as clear as possible.
