ALMIGHTY – A new way to obtain fresh water
Solar energy is a renewable free source of energy that is sustainable and totally inexhaustible, unlike fossil fuels that are finite. It is also a non-polluting source of energy and it does not emit any greenhouse gases when producing electricity. Even in ancient culture man was aware of its competence. The ancient Egyptians revered Ra as the god who created everything who known as the Sun God, they worshiped Ra more than any other god and pharaohs often connected themselves with Ra in their efforts to be seen as the earthly embodiment of the Sun God.
The main motive of our project is to build a prototype working with this profuse green energy. The project concentrates on three main objectives: sustainable energy that is solar energy, activation of space by enforcing social activity and end usage of the results obtained. The method used to metabolise does not use any technology and is a back to basic process.
This project uses solar energy to solve the water problem through desalination process. Water which covers 70% of the earth still render useless for usage because of it high salinity. Desalination is a process which occurs in nature and through this project we show how we utilize this natural phenomenon and capture the fresh water and use it for different applications. This project also uses natural filters such as oysters and moringa seed which has already been used by some culture from thousands of years. Whole prototype is set up in a specific site on the coastal area of Besos where we propose to have a social farming to create employment to maintain the area thus activating the space. The end fresh water obtained will also go into maintaining the area and into farming. Thus, the whole project becomes low energy, low cost yet a lively space.
