Assignment 2 Animated Systems Video
The temporary pavilion was developed as a structural demonstration of computational design tools, digital simulations and material properties research at the Institute for Computational Design in Stuttgart. The result is a bending-active structure made entirely of extremely thin, elastically-bent plywood strips. The project focuses on form generation informed by material properties and their physical behaviour. The structure assembly is based on the elastic bending behaviour of the 6.5 millimeter thin birch plywood strips, that were robotically manufactured as planar elements.
