PNEU.FLEX is part of a research project envisioned to create a material system deriving inspiration from the nature in its climatic response. The material system involves creating silicone composites that take advantage of the vapour pressure of liquids entrapped in the silicone composite during its phase change. This property lets the material act like a shape memory polymer that can be actuated by direct heat and thus can be integrated with the facade systems.
“Pneu.Flex” is a project of IAAC, Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, developed as part of the Computational Design course at the Master in Advanced Architecture program in 2017/18.
