When beginning to design the lamp, we initially were inspired by fractal images found in nature. The idea was not to create an actual fractal model, but instead portray a fractal pattern with the use of bent pieces of wood. After the soaking process, each piece was twisted and rotated along a central axis. By interlocking each piece at multiple different angles, we were able to strengthen the lamp design and increase its complexity. Due to the fact that the lamp is intended to be a pendant, after the first model attempt, we decided to mirror the design in order to increase shadows and push our concept even further.
