The aim + actions are simple – to create movement through automated systems.
However, despite the formality of physics and predictability of mechanics, the final action is hardly calculable.
While this experiment began with a focus on electro magnetic fields, the harsh realities of life, physics and residential grade batteries limited its feasibility.
During the process, materials of varying viscosity, energy sources of varying strengths and batteries of varying voltage have been tested and assessed.
The final result – an automated mechanism for the displacement of rice, using the rhythmic rotations of a central motor and distribution panel.
These common place elements come together to make a lightly entertaining expression of motion, reaction and interaction.
Watch it dance…
Left to its own devices, the rice will continue to be propelled around the room until the motor finally sinks to the base, its own distribution panel restricting its capacity to distribute.
