BRIEF:
The aim of this assignment was to create an live-interactive installation using forces as
parameters using Kangaroo as main engine. The main goal will be to build a simple interface where the user can “play” with inputs such as attractors, sliders, functions and time to transform an object in space.
REFERENCE:
EXPO ‘67 GERMAN PAVILION BY FREI OTTO
German architect and structural engineer Frei Otto was well known for his pioneering innovations in lightweight and tensile structures. The main characteristics of tensile structures are the way in which they work under stress tensile, their ease of pre-fabrication, their ability to cover large spans, and their malleability.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Create a simple base geometry inside the given space that can be easily modified.
2. Define a set of behaviors that will deform the model accordingly.
3. Analyze the resulting data to visualize the design transformation.
4. Make a historic catalogue of the form finding exploration.
5. Record a video of the live-interaction interface in “game” mode.
