01. Base model
Since our studio project is based in Placa Glories, I decided to do a game
based in the same place. I started using a rough rhino volume model to
which I added some buildings I found on Google 3d warehouse (Torre
Agbar, Hotel silken, D197 and D199)
02. Export
I exported the file as OBJ making sure the textures from the buildings were embedded
and save to the folder. Further, I made sure to check the box “map rhino Z to OBJ Y.
Inside the assets folder of the unity file directory I created a folder called “3d model” in
which I placed the OBJ with its textures.
03. Import
Once i had created a new unity file and scene I imported the 3d
model file by dragging and dropping it from the unity file browser.
04. Skybox and lighting
I added a skybox and increased the intensity in the directional light
05. Textures
Some texture was added to the buildings that were not already
embedded with texture from rhino. I also painted some heights as terrain.
07. Trees
Some trees were added using the environment package. I also added a first person view character.
09. Overview tracking map
To get a better overview when navigating in the game an overview map was added (seen in lower right corner)
To enhance the experience I added some text using the 3d text component.
11. Rolling ball and airjet
Finally, to have some fun i added a rolling ball and an airplane taking
of from the square. The airplane has an AI function and continuously
targets an object I previously set up.
