GENETIC OPTIMIZATION
Brief:
The main objective of this assignment is for students to utilize Evolutionary solvers in order to
optimize a studio or seminar project. With the help of Galapagos (or similar) or Biomorpher,
students will search for the most optimal solution (maximize, minimize, or reach a certain
fitness) in the architectural environment. The result of the exercise should be a series of
optimized elements which can help to drive the project forward.
Urban intervention in Mexico city with respect to the Segundo Piso. Plugging in and adapting a city into the existing fabric of the city. In this exercise using optimisation tools, the built mass has been optimised based on the solar radiation to generate optimum building heights in order to reduce the amount of solar radiation hitting the ground surface and the roof surface of the buildings themselves.
