Evolving solutions for Shading Device
For this assignment I chose my groups studio proposal for Active Public Space, developed in Plaza Espanya . Since in summer the lack of shading on the public square is a big problem I wanted to create a shading device using Galapagos, “maximizing” sun light for different times through the year.
In Grasshopper I adjusted the climate data and the coordinates of the site using Google Earth.
In Rhino I prepared a clean model , designing an optimised structure for a public space, which will have the maximum shade in daylight.
I used Galapagos to optimize the exact value and precision of the placement structure, taking into consideration the rotation, angle and x,y coordinates of the shading device.
