PROJECT ABSTRACT

Using the tools and knowledge gained in the Programming and Physical Computing Seminar, students were tasked to develop a final setup using a combination of actuators and sensors introduced throughout the course of the seminar, whereby they would test its real-life application.

Illuminate was developed as a setup whereby a motion sensor would pick up the movement of an object or individual and initiate a sequence of lights based on their proximity to the sensor.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENT: DESIGN PROPOSAL

In an attempts to think about the prototype’s real-life large-scale application, Illuminate was developed as an interactive installation, drawing inspiration from the LLUM festival.

The installation creates an interactive display of lights stimulated by movement, encouraging viewers to walk through the space. The project contains a touch sensor to activate the sliding doors, and a series of motion sensors which would pick up the viewer’s movement and initiate a sequence of lights based on their position to the motion sensor.

Illuminate is a project of IAAC, Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia at Master in Advanced Architecture in 2021/2022 by: Student: Charicleia Iordanou; Faculty: Bernat Morato; Faculty Assistant: Daniil Koshelyuk
