Stay Green: Some research from Media-tic
Concept:
The concept “STAY GREEN” is origin from the media-tic. This project has chromatic green in the color of the structure and operational green in its environmental impact. In modern world, the building sector contributes up to 30% of our global annual green house gas emissions and consumes up to 40% of all energy. Our buildings play a key role in the self-prophetic global crises that are in our future therefore; it is vital that our built environment becomes responsive and healthy, so we need the green way to stay.
Social- Political:
The Arab Spring was a series of anti-government protests, uprisings, and armed rebellions that spread across the Middle East in the early 2010s. It began in response to oppressive governments and a low standard of living, starting with protests in Tunisia.
Relation of the Social political aspect of Media- Tech with Arab Spring is that In the Arab spring people in 2010 needed a forum to discuss political events and opinions without the need to be afraid of being arrested, by that time, the forum was streets, where the commoners and the elitist have a common goal and forum to discuss.
While Media- Tec is a forum for companies and institutions in the world of information technology gather and communication in Barcelona as well as an audiovisual sector. Building houses both office space for ICT businesses and exhibition space open to the general public. Together these elements create an environment of interaction between technology thinkers, inventors, and users. In relation to the concept with the communication of people and diverse social groups. The cognitive capabilities of people will improve resulting in impact on our environment.
Technology:
The building is composed of triangular ETFE modules that are digitally controlled to store energy, provide extra insulation and mitigate excess solar gain, alleviating potential discomfort of its occupants while reducing energy load. The modules operate as an organism, expanding and contracting a nitrous cloud through internal air chambers within the ETFE membrane, reacting to internal solar-powered sensors. This inter-chamber cloud changes opacity as necessary to relieve solar penetration within the building, therefore reducing heat-gain and unwanted glare.
ETFE is a hybrid material (Ethilene Tetrafluor Ethilene) with some very special characteristics:
DELIVER A sunscreen and a facade with a thickness of 200 m
GREAT RESULTS WITH LITTLE MATERIAL
ULTRA VIOLET COEFFICIENT 85%
DENSITY 350 g/m2AUTO FUEL MATERIAL
LIGEREZA
ELASTICITY
Arduino
It is doing action with the least effort to ensure efficiency.
In relation to the concept Technology ads in supporting a current system and improve sits efficiency there for the environment. It is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards can read inputs – light on a sensor, afinger on a button,or a Twitter message – and turn it into an output – activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. You can tell your board what to do by sending a set of instructions to the microcontroller on the board. To do so you use the Arduino programming language and the Arduino Software (IDE), based on Processing. When comparing Media-Tec with Arduino the processes of absorbing inputs to: Generate an output with the least effort (energy) Media- Tec Input: Is the temperature sensor which activates a vertical cloud of particles of nitrogen, and the ETFE coating to protects the building from solar radiation and cools. Media- Tec output: transmitting the nitrogen inside the building reduces the heat and minimizes the usage of ACS in the building resulting in an energy efficient building. Arduino input: setting a set of instruction by Arduino programming language. Arduino output: result driven action.
Publication:
Publication Bruno Latour Resembling the social Latour wrote this book as a critique of the way that social scientists use the word social. He argues that sociologists consider social assomething that already exists. He believes that social is something that must be formed.
Latour’s concept of Actor Network Theory (ANT) was very concerned with understanding how people and technologies or other objects interact. Relations of people and objects form networks. Latour thinks that different individuals, objects, and institutions are fighting to create different kinds of knowledge. Every actor in the network wants their knowledge. All of these come together to form associations.
Just like Bruno Latour’s concept of Network theory Media tec used the same kind of steps to form an energy efficient building. The design team of media tec (humans) Incorporated their knowledge of programming and instructed the CAD-CAM digital processer (object) to produce a building energy efficiency building.
In relation to the concept Human manufactures a product that impacts the environment in making it more self-sufficient.
Art Works?
Some artists use their special ways to encourage people’s environmental awareness.
Jason de Caires Taylor, who created several large-scale underwater “Museums” and “Sculpture Parks” , with collections of over 850 life-size public works over the past 10 years.
Caitlind r.c. Brown & Wayne Garrett?they made an interactive sculpture named CLOUD, which created from 6,000 incandescent light bulbThe piece utilizes pull chain switches and everyday domestic light bulbs, re-imagining their potential to catalyze collaborative moments and create an enveloping, experiential environment.
Portugal artist Bordalo II, he creates sculptures from various discarded objects he can find around the city like scrap, old tires, car carcasses, appliances, plastic stuff and aluminium cans… His installations are focused on questioning the materialistic and consumerist society we live in.
In fact, not only the artists began to focus on environmental problems, the big fashionable companies have already focused on this as well. The global trend in the luxury goods industry today is to reuse, recycle and regenerate fashion.
In 2018, the French fashion house was criticized by environmental activists for cutting down over-century-old trees to create a winter atmosphere at the Chanel Cruise Collection held at Grand Palais, Paris, in March 2018.
In the same year, Chanel announced it would stop producing fur products and using leather made from endangered animals while promising to cut carbon emissions by 50 percent through use of renewable electricity by 2030.
However, it is unresponsive to joining the trend of using eco-friendly materials in its fashion.
Chanel Korea did not provide any information about a campaign relevant to the matter.
U.K. luxury brand Burberry has said production by all of its fashion items would use sustainable materials by 2022.
Burberry also unveiled “ReBurberry Edit” in April introducing a new eco-friendly collection for spring and summer seasons. Apparel used eco-friendly materials such as Econyl, an alternative to nylon that is made from recycled industrial plastic and waste fabric.
For some items, only minimal energy and water were used in the production process.
Last year, Italian brand Prada’s Re-Nylon bag collection used the samenylon fiber made of waste materials collected from all over the world. Alexander McQueen did not discard leftover silk and lace in the previous collection and reused them for this year’s spring and summer show.
Even Louis Vuitton of fashion conglomerate LVMH introduced accessories made of remaining silk fabric and the French fashion house will unveil its first recycled collection this month at the men’s 2021 spring & summer show in Shanghai, China.
Gucci introduced its first new sustainable line “Off the Grid” in June too. Its creative director Alessandro Michele used both organic and recycled eco-friendly fabrics.
About media-tic:
It is in Barcelona which is an information and communication technology hub designed to incubate, generate, exhibit and invite new ideas and developments in ICT.The Media-TIC building in Barcelona is an information and communication technology hub designed to incubate, generate, exhibit and invite new ideas and developments in ICT.
“The theme of the Media-TIC building is how architecture creates a new balance with the digital use of energy.”
The feature wall is the south-east façade facing Carrera de Sancho de Ávila, which will absorb six hours of sunlight a day. The ETFE cladding surface appears as a mosaic of concave and convex triangles, a design that is said to depict the merging of atoms or elements to make meaningful information, while also representing the process of digital construction. In all, the project used 2,500m² of ETFE cladding, achieving energy savings of 20%.
Conclusion:
So, it seems like more and more people start to have an awareness of protecting our world, and for reach this aim, all the things in our daily life need toexist in a more green way. It means that recycling materials and energy saving technologies and the metabolic ,self-sufficient architecture is an inevitable trend of our world.
