Project: XYZ Formula
Architects: WGNB
Location: Seoul, South Korea
Year: 2017
Brief
The building located in South Korea has a pixelated façade composed of a translucent material that creates rhythm though the use of a pattern. The main concept is “see-through” and permeability due to the company’s moisture products. This is translated to the façade by allowing sunlight to “permeate” through the skin.
Design Criteria
The main criteria is to create a square grid and create a pattern to allow more natural light in the building.
- Main element: Square
- Elements are extruded back gradually from bottom to top of the building.
- Pattern skips an element in each row.
- Horizontal planes are omitted.
