Client: South Australian Government; The South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI)
South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) is a space for researchers and scientists to collaborate in a unique environment for medical research. Located next to the Royal Adelaide Hospital it forms a direct link between the reserch and the clinicians.
The form of the building allows for this parametric facade formed of a dia-grid to respond to the environment it sits in .The shading panels are derived from heat analysis surveys, indicating the the depth of the panels that will be needed along the facade. The shading panels that differ in depth according to the sunlight analysis that was carried out during the design stage. These shading panels change depending on the elevation of the facade, with 4 different types of elements. A shading panel with glass, anther with a solid panel behind the shading element. Some with just glass and no shading. And some panels of the dia-grid are just shading.
Design Iteration
Iteration 1,2,3,4
Changing some of the parameters to create different patterns on the facade.
