The investigated issue is tackling one of the research areas for this semester’s Self Sufficient Studio design project- methane emission, one of the most dangerous greenhouse gases. The subject of the study is Siberia because I believe it to provide an extreme phenomena of methane emission due to the permafrost. The investigated region is precisely Siberian Federal Districts, consisting of 12 Federal Subjects, each one being a representative unit for the data measurement.       ARCTIC METHANE RELEASE Permafrost can store methane, thus its thawing can exacerbate global warming by releasing methane and other hydrocarbons, which are powerful greenhouse gases. The potential methane release is dependent on the area of the permafrost, therefore the study aims to outline that relationship.
