ABSTRACT

Raval Block Tower is a project carried out from the concept of generating a tower with the aim of achieving the largest number of homes with the best possible light and energy quality in a highly crowded residential area of ??the city with narrow spaces and poor lighting conditions.

Geometrically, it starts from a surface respecting an occupation on the ground floor of less than 75% of the surface of the plot. Starting from this surface, we work with rectangular volumes in a two-by-five matrix whose optimization is projected according to the environmental conditions and the environment in order to obtain the maximum exposure to the sun of said blocks playing with different heights in a range of 20 – 130 m.

Site : Carrer de Lancaster, Raval, Barcelona

Key factors for choosing the site :

  • Dense neighborhood poses a requirement for a high rise residential
  • Presence of a significantly tall monument in a predominantly medium rise area
