In this assignment, evolutionary computing is utilised to optimize the building form and orientation to achieve the most desirable views with the least amount of facade solar radiation.
A gene pool is established to control the building aspect ratio, height and orieantion. After several thousand iterations in Galapagos, a list of the genes with highest fitness values was attained.
I run another round of optimisation for the facade panelling. The panels were resized according to the amount of solar radiation received on an annual basis.
The workflow is particularly useful for developments in which achieveing certain key views is essential while taking into account minimizing the building heat gain.
