We are surrounded by natural forces in complicated and wonderful ways. We spent our lives interacting and understanding our environment. The Interactive Environments and Physical Computing seminar focuses on researching and exploring the motion produced by the amazing natural forces such as water, wind or gravity playing with them to create digital and physical installations where these forces will be the lead actor.

In 7 weeks students will simultaneously learn more about coding / scripting tools and how to create devices that interact with their environment using sensors and actuators. The course will conclude with an interactive project, as students will be pushed to create a synchronous and meaningful living system using natural forces. Students are similarly encouraged to use the code based tools to explore data visualisation and physical computing as applied to their studios, in processes that they can integrate in their projects in the following months.
