At Valldaura Labs, all activities and initiatives are guided by an emphasis on ecological design and ecologically conscious lifestyles. For students at the MAEBB, strategies are put in place to promote all levels of ecological thinking, including exploration of principles, documentation of processes and communication for idea sharing purposes. To this end, under the direction of award-winning documentary filmmaker Tristan Copley-Smith, MAEBB students spent the autumn months exploring and documenting Valldaura Labs environments as well as strategies in ecological and self-sufficient living at Valldaura Labs.
MAEBB students used the unique and innovative medium of video capture and film editing to investigate environments, including natural daylighting and artificial lighting patterns, forest territories and trees, as well as self-sufficient processes, such as cradle to cradle heating systems and organic plant and animal food cycles.
Moving forward, students will employ this medium of documentation and communication to share the results of their various explorations and pursuits related to ecological design, construction and lifestyles throughout the academic year.
